Cultural Documentation and Preservation

Uganda’s oral traditions, rituals, music, and craftsmanship are treasures that risk disappearing in modern times.

Uganda’s oral traditions, rituals, music, and craftsmanship are treasures that risk disappearing in modern times.
Bulamu actively documents endangered traditions, stories, songs, and indigenous knowledge, creating archives and resources that safeguard cultural memory for future generations.

We collaborate with elders, cultural experts, and youth to record, teach, and revive practices that define our collective identity.

Our documentation initiatives include:

  • Recording oral histories, traditional music, and folklore

  • Archiving cultural artefacts and indigenous knowledge

  • Producing educational materials and exhibitions

  • Training young people in traditional art forms and craftsmanship

This program ensures that our culture is not forgotten but reborn—living on as a source of pride, learning, and inspiration.

Our child empowerment initiatives include:

  • School sponsorships and scholastic support for vulnerable children

  • Cultural clubs and storytelling sessions to instill heritage pride

  • Life skills and mentorship programs

  • Community nutrition and wellness activities

This program ensures that every child in our care is protected, inspired, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our Impact

Through cultural education, healer reform, and community empowerment, Bulamu is restoring dignity and identity. We have reached thousands of learners, supported survivors, trained healers, and are building Uganda’s first eco-cultural hub in Mabira to preserve heritage for future generations.
